These
trips are all run by the Down Under Dive Club a club associated with Orakei
Dive Shop. If you wish to have the club newsletter emailed to you each
month please click on this link.
Please
note: (This is important for overseas's trained divers). You
will be required to fill out a medical form prior to going on any of our
trips. The form can be found here. As
you will only be diving with us rather than training it does not need
a doctor to sign it unless you answer yes to some of the medical conditions.
If you do answer yes please contact us before booking on a trip. Please
be honest. This does not apply to NZ trained divers as it is a requirement
to obtain a doctors cert before training.
TRIP
LIST
Remember
we are out at the Poor Knights an training an awful lot but I don't often
list the weekends here. If you are interested then call us and we'll see
what we can arrange
SATURDAY
MARCH 6th HEN & CHICKEN Group
with Goat Island dive. This is a place I've never dived so I'm hoping
to get a day off to go on this one. As the trip is with GI dive they will
be in charge of the divers and dive sites. We need payment in full to
confirm your place. Meets 8 am at the GI dive shop in Leigh and costs
$140.
MARCH
21st to 27th. The THREE KINGS.
This has proved to be popular so it's first in first served. The trip will
last 6 days and cost $1950 which includes air food boat and the possibility
of a bit of TREASURE from the Elingamite. Neil will be leading the trip
so we'll be going to all the best dive sites, I've lead over 15 trips
up there so far so I know where to go. If you are interested in this trip
you must have excellent diving skills and experience in decompression
diving plus a full deco dive computer is a must. Call Neil at the shop
for more details. We will be leaving from Hohura Sunday evening and we'll
be using a boat called Astraea, which we have been up there several times
on. If anyone is interested in chartering a boat for a fishing trip up
there before or after our trip give us a call and well give you Bills
phone number. Details can be found
here
SUNDAY
MARCH 28th. A trip to the beautiful ALDERMEN
ISLANDS off the coast of Tairua. This is a trip
especially for newish divers so the dive sites will be nice and
easy and we'll only be doing two dives so there's no rush. On a good day
the Aldermen Islands are almost as good as the Poor Knights but not a
reserve so there's always the chance of brining home a cray or two. The
boat will be leaving at 9:00am from Tairua. The trip costs $120 and as
a special deal if you need hire gear it will be half price.
SUNDAY
MARCH 28th.Yes two things happening on the same day. We'll
be having a CLUB MEETING at the shop
in the afternoon. It will kick off at about 1pm with a BBQ and beers then
Bruce from the Great White Shark Conservation trust will talk about why
we should be embracing theses wonderful animals rather than killing them.
SATURDAY
& SUNDAY APRIL 10th and 11th. A live aboard on Pacific
Hideaway at THE POOR KNIGHTS ISLANDS.
We will be sharing this with the nice folk at Dive Shack. The price of
$380 includes food air and accommodation on the boat (bring a sleeping
bag). There will be up to seven dives so it's excellent value for money.
You can drive up Friday night (stay on the boat for free) or Early Saturday
morning but you will need to be there by 8:30am.
SUNDAY
APRIL 25th. LITTLE BARRIER
with
Goat Island Dive. It's been ages since I've been here but it used to be
good for crays and this time of year it should be quite pretty too. Also
worth a mention as G.I. dives boat is super fast it'll only be 30 minutes
(or less) to get there and back real early. It will be leaving from Leigh
wharf but meeting at their shop at 8:00 am. The cost is $110.
SUNDAY
MAY 16th
Some advanced dives at the
ALDERMEN ISLANDS so you must have an advanced ticket of some
sort or better. Good diving and with luck a cray or two for mum tomorrow.
This time of the year is great for diving with the water clear but still
not too cold, get in and see for yourself. This time of the year it's
only two dives so we can get back early. The boat leaves Tairua wharf
at 9:00am. The trip costs $120.
Please
note: Due to the expense of chartering boats we will require
a deposit when booking and the balance one week before the trip leaves.
Failure to do so may mean you lose your spot without notice. Refunds will
only be given if the trip is cancelled or we find someone to take your
place. THIS MEANS YOU! Please contact the shop the day before and the
morning of the trip for latest updates. We will have our answer machine
on if closed.
